Nokia to bring ‘Amber’ Windows Phone 8 update in July to enable FM Radio and more


During the Lumia 925 launch event, the Finnish smartphone manufacturer announced an upcoming Lumia exclusive firmware update. Called the Windows Phone ‘Amber’ update, it will bring features that have been lying dormant in the phone.

All Nokia Lumia phones will get support for FM Radio except for the Lumia 620 which lacks hardware support for it. The update builds on the Windows Phone GDR2 update to Windows Phone 8 and bundles in a range of camera improvements. Additional features include double tap to wake which was first seen on the Nokia N9. Nokia says that the update will roll start rolling out in July and will be available across the entire Lumia Windows Phone 8 product portfolio.
