Nokia recently launched a brand new variant of its popular Lumia 920 smartphone on Verizon in the US. The handset went on sale on 16th May and while in New York we decided to step into a retail store to get a feel for the handset. Here’s a quick photo gallery to whet your appetite while we work on a brief impressions post.
The biggest change is of course at the back of the handset where Nokia has equipped the phone with a Xenon flash. This should theoretically result in rather amazing low light shots. Given the fact that Nokia has years of experience with the technology, we wouldn’t be too worried.
The other important change is the shift to an AMOLED screen instead of the IPS panel seen on the 920. Other than that the resolution and size remains the same but you do get deeper blacks and more vibrant colors. The handset is exclusive to Verizon and that is something that we’re quite disappointed by considering a Xenon flash is a genuinely useful addition that would be appreciated by a majority of buyers. Available starting 16th May, you can get the Nokia Lumia 928 for $99 on a two contract with Verizon if you live in the US. We’ll have our impressions out soon but till then don’t forget to check out the rest of the image gallery below!
