Sony launched the Xperia L, a mid range Android 4.1 phone in the market recently. Priced at Rupees 19,990 (MRP), the Xperia L has unique aesthetics, distinctive design that allows easy grip on the phone. This new entrant in the Xperia range comes in Black, Red and White shades. Here’s an unboxing and a detail look at the hardware of Xperia L.

Xperia L comes packed in a somber White box.
Backside of the box details the primary features of the phone.
On the box cover sleeves is a small diagram, that shows how to uncover the phone. Xperia L has a slant on both ends because of which the back cover has to be removed in a slightly different way.

The 1750 mAh battery can give up to 8.5 hours of talk time.
To insert the battery, remove the cover as instructed on the box sleeve. Xperia L supports single SIM.
Micro SD card slot is placed just above the battery slot. The phone already has a flash memory of 8 GB. The extra slot here can support a 32GB memory card.
Placing the cover requires a little work, the first few times. The beautiful white backside is embellished with the Xperia branding at the center. The phone is pretty light to hold at 137 grams.
Xpeira L has an 8 MP camera with auto focus and flash. This camera has Exmor RS sensor that can take sharp pics in any light. 4 times digital zoom. We will test the goodness of this camera in a review, very soon.
On the side of the camera, right at the bottom of the spine is a camera shortcut key.
Just above it is the beautiful metallic power button.
Volume control button is placed on top of the spine. All buttons are placed on one spine of the phone
The other side spine has the micro USB slot.
3.5 mm jack sits on top side of the phone.
There is a VGA Front facing camera on top.
The touch screen is a 4.3 inch TFT, 854 x 480 pixels display. It is supposed to be scratch resistant.
The three back, home and multitasking touch buttons are followed by an illumination bar at the bottom that lights up for notifications.
What makes the hardware of the Xperia L unique are the top and bottom sides of the phone. They are constructed in a slant giving a slim finish.
