Nokia’s Asha Touch devices just got a new feature that inches them slightly towards the ‘smart phone’ category. The Finnish phone manufacturer has pushed out an application on the Ovi Store that will allow Asha Touch phones to sync data via Mail for Exchange.
The application will let the phones synchronize emails, calendar and contacts directly using Microsoft’s Exchange ActiveSync protocol. The Ovi Store listing for the application suggests that it is compatible with the Asha 300,302,303, 308,309,310 & 311 phones. On the Asha 302 and 303, users will need to upgrade to firmware version 14.53 before using the application. Nokia has provided an in-depth guide for IT managers who want to set up Mail for Exchange for employees on Asha smartphones. End users can access this quick-start guide. While far from a smartphone experience, the application should help users get a bit more functionality from their Asha Touch based devices. Are you excited by this news ?
