Sony has announced that they would start rolling out the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for the Xperia S, Xperia SL and Xperia acro S starting from today as they announced last month. The Sony Xperia P, Xperia go and the Xperia E dual got the Jelly Bean update last month. Sony confirmed Jelly Bean update for range of 2012 Xperia devices back in October.
The Android 4.1 update would bring
- Battery STAMINA Mode to improve battery time by preventing data traffic when the screen is off
- Revamped homescreen experience with up to 7 desktop panes, auto-resize for widgets and actionable notifications
- Improved app organization in with better Application tray app sorting and new search function within application tray
- New lockscreen and themes similar to Xperia Z
- Google Now
Users with these phones would get a notification regarding the update. The update would be available Over the Air (OTA) (depending on the regions and carriers) and via PC Companion on Windows/ Bridge for Mac. It would be rolled out gradually, hence it might vary across different carriers and countries.
