Its been a while since LG introduced a Windows Phone based handsets but if rumors are to be believed then the Korean company might be working on a new smartphone based on Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system.
In a report published by LightReadingIndia, Kwon Soon who works as LG India’s Managing Director has reportedly revealed that a WP8 based handset is already under R&D. This however doesn’t mean that they will shift focus away from Android which powers most of LG’s smartphone portfolio. The company plans to introduce as many as 30 new devices by end of 2014 and a majority of these will likely be powered by Android. Uptake for the Microsoft’s mobile operating system has been slow with Nokia being the chief partner and HTC having done its part through the 8S and 8X handsets. While Chinese vendors Huawei and ZTE have committed to introducing Windows Phone handsets, Microsoft will need to engage more partners like LG to gain further traction.
