Nokia finally unveiled the Lumia 1020 at an event in New York few hours back. We brought you the hands-on impressions of the impressive device earlier today. Here is the hands on comparison of the Lumia 1020 with the Nokia Lumia 920, the company’s first Windows Phone device with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). So, what has changed between the devices ? In terms of display both these devices feature a 4.5-inch (1280 × 768 pixels) Pure Motion HD+ AMOLED ClearBlack display with a Pixel Density of 332 PPI, but the Lumia 1020 has the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Both these devices have capacitive touch buttons below the display. Both these phones run on Windows Phone 8 OS and are powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor with Adreno 225 GPU. But the RAM in the 1020 is 2GB, up from 1GB in the Lumia 920.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 features a 41-megapixel 1/1.5″ sensor with a pixel size of 1.12 microns and Carl Zeiss optics and the Lumia 920 comes with a 8.7 Megapixel 1/3″ sensor with a pixel size of 1.4 microns. Both these devices have Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization (OIS). The Lumia 920 has LED flash and the Lumia 1020 comes with a Xenon flash in addition to the LED flash that is used for video recording. Both these phones can record videos at full HD 1080p resolution at 30 fps. The Lumia 1020 has Stereo High Amplitude Audio Capture (HAAC) similar to the Nokia 808, which Nokia calls rich recording.
Coming to the design, both these phones have polycarbonate body with non-removable battery. The Lumia 920 had wireless charging out of the box, but the Lumia 1020 needs a wireless charging accessory.
Even the hardware buttons including the volume rocker, power button and the dedicated camera button doesn’t change.
The Lumia 1020 has a large speaker and the Lumia 920 has small speakers on either sides of the micro USB slot.
The Lumia 1020 is 10.4 mm thick (Volume thickness) and weighs 158 grams. The Lumia 920 is 10.7 mm thick (Volume thickness) and weighs 185 grams. This might be due to the built-in wireless charging capabilities. The Lumia 1020 comes in Yellow, White and Black. The Lumia 920 came in Grey and Red colors in addition to these colors.
