Gameloft announces Asphalt 8, Dungeon Hunter 4 and more games for Windows Phone 8 devices

Gameloft have officially announced that they will be joining hands with Microsoft to bring some of their gaming titles to Microsoft’s Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 platform. The lack of popular titles in the Games section of Windows Store has been of concern, but now Microsoft seem to have brought some life.

Despite a few Gameloft titles already in the WP store, there hasn’t been much talk about gaming on WP and Microsoft hopes to change that by roping in around 15 Gameloft titles including the yet to be released Asphalt 8:Airborne and already popular Dungeon Hunter 4. In addition to those high-end games, the users of Windows and Windows Phone 8 will be treated with some casual games like Minion Rush, Six Guns, UNO & Friends and Total Conquest before the end of 2013.

Microsoft have provided a sneak peek of the Asphalt 8 in their blog.

Asphalt 8 will be one of the first among the list of 15 games to come to the Windows platform this fall. The game will be on par with its Android and iOS counter part and will have all the features intact. The various features will include 8 seasons and 180 events in the career mode that spans across the racing locations in Venice, Nevada, Iceland. The Asphalt 8:Airborne would be available for Android, iPhone and iPad on August 22nd, which is tomorrow.

Do you think Windows platform is gaining traction in the handheld industry? Will it be enough to compete with Android and iOS?
