The Nokia Lumia 925 launched just six days back in India with a price tag of Rs. 33,499. It was announced back in May, as a refreshed alternative to people who didn’t like the bulk and design of the good old Nokia Lumia 920. The camera was supposedly improved, along with the build and design, with a six element lens and all new algorithms, while retaining all the PureView OIS goodness that the 920 was known for. While the Lumia 920 was good, it had problems with defocused softer photos and overall unreliable performance, making it a tougher buy when compared to other flagships. But, does the Lumia 925 fix that? Can it produce better pictures than competing flagship devices? Exactly what we are going to see today.
Welcome to the first ever blind test shootout on FoneArena. Yes, we are pitting the current top end flagship devices against each other in a blind shootout. We have particularly selected these devices for the test –
- Samsung Galaxy S4(Taken in 8MP mode)
- HTC One
- Apple iPhone 5 and
- Nokia Lumia 925
These are undeniably the most well known flagships that are currently available in the market. Each have a distinct camera with features packed to the brim. We are not gonna bother with the software additions and other gimmicky enhancements as all the devices above have them in equal measures, but test the real world performance in set conditions.
We have taken three pictures using all the phones mentioned above and have stripped off the EXIF data(the pictures are in random order). To keep it fair amongst all the devices, we have taken all the original pics and compressed(resampled) them to sharing size, with 2048 as the width(or height, according to the orientation).
The Daylight images were taken at around 5 P.M IST, with a yellowish Sun moving towards twilight, but still bright. The low light image was taken under controlled lighting indoors, and all photos were taken with absolutely the same focus point and lighting. Check the images out(click to open in full size) –
Exhibit A(Daylight 1)
Exhibit B(Daylight 2)
Exhibit C(Low light)
That’s it for now! The pictures are arranged in random, and we will reveal the full resolution pictures and the arrangement of the photos later. But, it is time for you to tell us which one of those photos is the Lumia 925 and if it is actually better than the others?
Now, for the polls –
Which one of them, in your opinion, produces the best images?
Which one of them is the Lumia 925?
Note: This is absolutely not a scientific test. The irregularities in the resolutions between the competing devices have made the 100% crop comparisons impossible, but we will be revealing the respective full resolution images shortly. Till then, hang tight! Oh, and do let us know what you think of the picture quality of each of the images in the comments section below.
