Motorola Moto X Unboxing

The Moto X is the all new Motorola phone designed and manufactured in the US and it is one first few phones to come out of a Motorola owned by Google. The Moto X was announced on Aug 1st after numerous leaks. The Moto X is currently on sale only in the US on AT&T and through Motorola’s MotoMaker website. It is not going to be available in India or any other market anytime soon, so we managed to get one from the US just for you guys because at the end of the day we love technology and think that great products should be available globally to anyone interested. So presenting the Motorola Moto X Unboxing , probably one of the first unboxings of this device from outside the US and pretty much the first in India !

Box Contents

Here is what you get in the retail package

  • Moto X with sealed battery and a nanoSIM card slot
  • Dual USB wall charger
  • microUSB cable
  • Fancy SIM ejector tool
  • Quick start guide and safety information

In terms of the specs it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960Pro dual core processor paired with 2GB of RAM and packs 16GB of inbuilt storage out of which 11.88GB is usable. There is a 10MP ClearPixel camera on the back along with a LED flash. You can capture a picture by just flicking your wrist a couple of times with the phone in your hands with Quick Capture.

Was I surprised the first time I powered-on the Moto X ? Hell yes. The hardware feels really top notch for a phone using plastic materials and that AMOLED screen is a great addition. And The Moto X is running on Android 4.2.2 with 99% stock Android apart from some carrier bloatware and customizations by Motorola. One cool feature known as Touchless control lets you use Google Now and interact with the phone using just your voice. Do watch our video above for a demo.

The Moto X feels really nice and well made especially if you have small hands or appreciate the form factor of a device with a 4.7 inch display.

This Touchless control for Google Now is one really cool feature on the Moto X.

Dual USB charger in the box ? How thoughtful !

This is probably one of the best things about the Moto X – the SIM ejector tool

Glad to see Moto back in action in 2013 but sadly and pricing and market availability is a huge drawback. It is available in the US for $579 without a contract for the 16GB version and $629 for the 32GB version. Strangely considering this is a AT&T device at this point of time, non-contract does not mean it is unlocked. You still have to get it unlocked. Or you get it from our friends over at Negri Electronics  who are selling unlocked units. Here are more photos of the Moto X, you can drool over in the gallery below.

Do check out a 360 degree view of the Moto X from the FoneArena labs. There are a lot of cool things about the Moto X but these are the top 5 features we are excited about.
