Archos 45 Platinum Hands On

At IFA 2013, Archos unveiled a range of Android powered smartphones and tablets. The company’s Platinum range is targetted towards the mid-range sporting a variety of screen sizes and mid-range specs to offer an affordable cost-effective mid-range package in a variety of sizes to satisfy all customers. One unique feature of the Platinum range is that they sport dual-SIM capability without skimping too much on the specs themselves.

The Archos 45 Platinum sports a 4.5 inch qHD display (960 x 540 pixels) which offers 244 ppi pixel density. It’s powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and features 1GB RAM with 4GB internal storage. There’s also a removable back cover which reveals a microSD card slot that allows you to expand the memory by up to 64GB. The Archos 45 Platinum runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with Archos’ own UI tweaks and customisations on top.

On the back is a 5MP shooter which comes with autofocus and LED flash. The rear camera can capture 720p HD video at 30 frames per second whilst the front facing camera is VGA resolution with no video recording. The Archos 45 Platinum comes with a 1600 mAh battery and weighs in a pretty heft 150 grams.

Although the Archos 45 Platinum doesn’t boast the latest in specs, it is ideally placed to satisfy those looking for a mid-range dual SIM Android smartphone that offers value for money.
