LG has filed for G Health Smartwatch trademark to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Gear, its Korean competitor. Rumors of the LG Smartwatch surfaced back in March. Back in July Apple filed filed the iWatch trademark in Japan, Russia & Mexico, but it is not clear when we can expect a watch from the company. LG filed the G Health trademark on October 23rd, 2013. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) filing doesn’t reveal anything other than the smartwatch identification.
LG is rumored to unveil its first smart watch early 2014, which is expected to come with a flexible display similar to the G Flex smartphone. LG Chem already revealed that they are developing curved batteries that could be used in watches. The submitted documents for the “G Heath” smartwatch is mainly for Watches and Watchbands that communicate data to personal digital assistants, smartphones, and personal computers through internet websites and other computer and electronic communication networks.
Only the G Health naming is confirmed, still we don’t have any drawing of the watch. The name G Heath hints that it might have some health-related features.
