At a Google Plus focussed event, the company announced that the iOS app will be getting additional features to bring it at par with the Android app. The iOS app will soon be able to do full resolution back ups. It will also get background sync capabilities that should enable you to use Google’s cloud service to backup your images online. It is believed that the application will make use of the background update capabilities introduced in iOS 7.
Hangouts for Android would get support for location sharing and SMS that would let users send a map of current location and option to send and receive SMS. It would also support in-line Animated GIFs. Both these apps would get full screen Hangout videos.
Auto Awesome gets three new techniques, Action, Eraser and Movie. As the name indicates, Action can create strobe-effect photograph, Eraser lets you take a sequence of photos, and erase whatever’s moving to get a cleaner image and the Movie option produces highlight reels from photos and videos that includes effects, transitions and a soundtrack automatically. Google has also added Auto Enhance improvements for images.
All these features would be available for Hangouts for Android and Google+ for iOS in a few days. The Auto Awesome Movie works on select devices with Android 4.3, other features are available on all the Android devices.
