Facebook has updated the Messenger app for Android to make it faster and more reliable. The new app is still in testing stage, that brings a completely new design with new tabs for conversations, people and settings and new features. You can just tap across the top of the app or swipe left and right to switch between these tabs. This update lets you reach people faster and message your contacts easily, says Facebook.
Facebook Messenger for Android got updated with support for Stickers back in April and the iPhone app got the update in May that brought stickers. It also got a minor redesign at that time. Facebook added Like Button sticker for both these apps back in June.
New features in Facebook Messenger for Android
- If other friends are using the app you’ll see Messenger icon next to their name and they will get notified instantly about your message.
- Now you just need contact’s phone number to begin texting others using Messenger even if they are not your Facebook friend
- New design with three new tabs to see recent conversations, a list of the people you message, and settings.
Facebook would start testing the new update with select people using Messenger for Android starting today. It is not clear when the Facebook Messenger for iPhone would get these features.
