HTC One to get Android 4.4 KitKat within 90 days

HTC One

HTC has been trying their best to turn the ship around and having a consumer centric approach. From the beautifully designed HTC One to the Google Play Edition and now, fast OS updates, the company has been doing a lot of things right. Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC America, has just confirmed that the Google Play Edition of the flagship handset will be running Android 4.4 within 15 days. He also reaffirmed that the Developer Edition and unlock version will be on the new release within 30 days.

In a never before seen move, Jason also promises that all other SKUs including carrier variants will have the latest update within 90 days. All the handsets will retain Sense 5.5 other than the HTC One GPE. HTC also plans to roll out Android 4.4 to its other handsets like the One Max and One Mini as well but there’s no forward looking guidance for those devices. Mackenzie however did reassure that all dot releases will make it to the One in under 90 days. We hope other OEMs too follow HTC’s lead and commit to a reasonable schedule for Android updates.
