HTC is popular for using colorful rear panels for their mid-range Desire segment. Now an unknown mid-range smartphone from HTC has been leaked in China, showing off colorful back covers in yellow, orange, cyan and red. The company had been using Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and 200 series of processors for its mid-range smartphones, but this one is rumored to feature the new Octa-Core chip from MediaTek.
According to the leak, the upcoming smartphone is expected to sport a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display and run on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with HTC’s Sense 5.5 UI on top. It would come with a 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.5GB RAM and an expansion slot. No word on the battery capacity yet. It is not clear if this would be a global launch or it is destined for the Chinese markets alone.
If this smartphone is for global markets, we can expect it to launch at the MWC 2014 next month. According to the rumors it would be priced at less than 2,000 Chinese yuan (~Rs. 20830).
