Airtel has announced that it has crossed 200 million mobile subscriber mark in India. It is the largest mobile operator in India and fourth largest mobile operator in the world in terms of subscribers. It has 1.5 million outlets and serves 86.7% of the country’s population. It crossed 60 million mobile customer mark in 2008 and reached 100 mobile subscriber base in India in 2009. It took just 5 years for Airtel to add 100 million customers.
Commenting on the new milestone, Gopal Vittal, Joint MD& CEO (India), Bharti Airtel said,

Airtel offers 2G, 3G and 4G TD-LTE services in India and plans to offer 4G FD-LTE in the country since it won 1800 MHz spectrum in 15 circles in the recent spectrum auction. Earlier this week it acquired Loop Mobiles to become the largest mobile operator in Mumbai.
