We didn’t see any new Exnos SoC at the CES 2014 last month. Samsung has started teasing their upcoming Exynos Infinity chip that would be unveiled at the MWC 2014 next week. This Exynos Infinity is expected to be the successor of the Exynos 5 Octa and is likely to be featured in a variant of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone.
Back in September last year, Samsung announced that the Exynos 5 Octa chip would get Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) that would let each CPU to be switched on or off as needed and also enables the use of all physical cores at the same time. This didn’t happen yet, but the upcoming Exynos Infinity might come with HMP support.
Samsung already confirmed that it is working on a 64-bit Exynos processor. New details have emerged of a Samsung quad-core SoC dubbed “GH7″ based on ARMv8-A 64-bit architecture. It is not clear if the chip uses Samsung’s custom micro-architecture, like Apple or Cortex-A57 cores.
Samsung has scheduled its MWC 2014 Unpacked event in Barcelona on 24th February, Monday, where it will unveil the most expected Galaxy S5.
