Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core and Snapdragon 610 quad-core 64-bit SoCs with LTE announced

Qualcomm has just announced the Snapdragon 610 and 615 Chipsets in their Snapdragon 600 lineup. Both these chips have LTE support,including LTE Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) capabilities and are based on ARM Cortex A53 cores and 64-bit ARMv8 CPU support. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 is an octa-core chip with 8 ARM Cortex A53 and the Snapdragon 610 is a quad-core chip. Both these have Adreno 405 GPU, unlike the Snapdragon 410 that has a Adreno 305 GPU.

  • 3G HSPA+ (up to 42Mbps), CDMA, and TD-SCDMA.
  • Adreno 405 GPU with DirectX 11.2 and Open GL ES3.0
  • Supports up to Quad High Definition (2560×1600) displays
  • Miracast support for wireless streaming of multimedia content
  • Embedded H.265 hardware decoder
  • Integrated Qualcomm VIVE  802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 solutions.

It would release Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) version of the Snapdragon 610 and 615 processors in the fourth quarter of 2014 and commercial devices are also expected at the same time.
