Nokia X was launched less than a couple of weeks, but it has already been hacked. That is the thing about Android smartphones – you can get root user access and do things that wouldn’t be otherwise possible. As rumored, Nokia introduced an Android smartphone at MWC 2014, but with their own restrictions. Nokia had completely removed Google from the equation and pushed a lot of its own code and Nokia X series devices use Microsoft’s services instead of Google.
Nokia X was announced and launched immediately and now it has been hacked. Nokia X can now run Google Play Store and you can download apps from Google Play Store which has quite a lot of apps. According to the Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop, they are targeting the entry range smartphone market with the Nokia X series and they are hoping that the tile based interface would make the users want Windows Phone devices – Switch to Lumia.
As we all know, the folks at XDA developers forum are never shy to try out things and we were pretty sure that they would lay their hands on the Nokia X and do something. As expected, they got the device to run Google services like Google Play Store and Google Now. Nokia had also announced that users will be able to sideload apks on their Nokia X. So, will the Nokia X open the gateway for Lumia devices and become a bigger brand than the Lumia brand itself?
