Instagram for Android gets a UI refresh, now faster and more responsive

Instagram for Android has been updated to version 5.1, that brings a completely new user interface. It also makes the app more responsive with a range of under the hood improvements. Instagram for Android was introduced back in April 2012, since then the app has received a range of new features such as tablet support, video support, option to import from library, automatic straightening and more.

This is the first major update that brings a range of visual changes. Regarding the new design, on the official blog, Instagram said,

Your profile screen now loads twice as fast, and we’ve cut the overall app size in half to increase speed throughout Instagram. We’ve simplified our visuals throughout our app, making use of valuable screen space for small devices and feature phones and rearranging our design to keep buttons within easy reach as you navigate the app on a larger device.

The new version is definitely faster, even on older version of Android devices. Image loading time is also faster. You can get the new Instagram update for Android from the Google Play.
