Apple discontinues iPad 2, brings back iPad 4 with Retina Display starting at $399

Apple introduced the iPad Air with a Apple A7 64 bit processor, M7 motion co-processor and a slim design last October. At the same time it discontinued the 4th generation iPad with Retina Display, few months after the launch and reduced the price of iPad 2 to $399. Today, Apple has decided to discontinue the 3-year old iPad 2 to bring back the 4th generation iPad with Retina Display.

The iPad 4 with Retina Display has a A6X processor and lightning port, but all other features are exactly similar to the iPad 3, including a 9.7-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) display, 1.2MP HD front-facing camera, 5MP rear camera with 1080p HD video recording, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and Bluetooth 4.0.

The iPad 4 with Retina Display now starts at $399 for 16GB WiFi version and the 16GB WiFi + Cellular version costs $529. Even the Apple India website now lists the iPad 4 with Retina display instead of iPad 2, but no word on pricing yet.
