Google Search for Android gets voice actions to launch camera

Google Search for Android Record Video and Take a Photo

Google has added new voice commands to Google Search for Android that lets you launch the camera app to take a photo or record a video by speaking respective commands. Google Search already has an option to open apps just by saying “Open Instagram” or “Open Facebook”. With the new “take a photo” or “take a video” commands, Google Search will launch the camera app in the preferred mode.

These new voice actions just takes you to the video or camera mode, but you have to press the shutter button or recording option. In some devices like Moto G, there are two separate buttons to capture images and record videos, so both these commands takes you to the same camera interface, you get when you open the camera. Since most phones have lock screen shortcut to launch the camera quickly, it would be easier to launch the camera, instead of using these voice actions.

Hope we can expect something like “take a selfie” option to launch the front-facing camera in future.
