UC Browser crosses 500 million users globally

UCWeb, popular for its mobile internet software and services has announced that the UC Browser has crossed 500 million users globally. Over 300 million UC Browser users are from Android, compared to 100 million in December 2012. It is among leading mobile browsers in India with market share of 32%, reveals StatsCounter data. 500 million user count is based on quarterly active users till March 2014, says UCWeb.

UC Browser crossed 400 million global user mark in December. It dominated China’s mobile browser market in 2013 with over 65% of the market share (based on monthly active users for both Android and iOS) according to iResearch data. It saw 328% YoY increase in smartphone users in India. It has also seen tremendous growth in Russia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the United States.

UCWeb is working with 5,000 partners, including online service providers, app and game developers, and e-commerce merchants to help maximize their brand exposure and distribution channels. It recently introduced Cricbuzz add-on, and launched train enquiry service in India for checking train status and ticketing information.

The company is looking to expand beyond smartphones and tablets, and the recently launched UC Browser for TV (Chinese version) is an example of it. This lets users access online videos, streamlined TV-based online shopping, and plugins that turn smartphone into a TV remote. The company has started a new brand campaign that includes the launch of the new UC Browser brand mascot and product tagline – “A Fast All-in-One Web Experience”.
