HTC One (M8) Google Play & Developer Edition models available for preorder

Craving the brand new HTC One M8 but don’t want the slick new Sense UI 6.0?  Hoping for HTC to launch a Google Play edition device? Well your wish just came true as HTC has announced that their new flagship will ship in both Google Play & Developer edition variants. The former device will eschew Sense UI for stock Android. This does mean that you will lose all the nifty additions brought on by Sense UI. Small price to pay for faster upgrades? The phone will still be able to take advantage of the One’s brand new Duo Camera thanks to HTC’s APIs.

The Developer Edition of the phone on the other hand will retain Sense UI but will give users an unlocked bootloader. This will let you flash whatever ROM that you wish to install. Both the phones go on preorder today with the developer edition being priced at $650 and available via HTC’s website. The Google Play Edition on the other hand will be priced at $699 and will be available on the Play Store.
