Lenovo reports record $817 million annual profit, 50 million smartphone shipments

Lenovo has reported its Q4 FY14 financial results and the full 2013/14 year that ended March 31, 2014. It has reported revenue of US$9.4 billion for Q4 FY14, up 19-percent year-over-year and the full-year revenue of US$38.7 billion, up 14-percent year-over-year.  Its profit stands at $817 million, up 29% YTY. This is the all time high revenue for Lenovo in an year. It shipped a total of 115 million devices in the year that includes, 55 million PCs, 9.2 million tablets and 50 million smartphones.

Lenovo has also revealed that the company’s SHAREit app already has 100 million users. After Sony’s exit from the Laptop business, Lenovo is on top with 17.7% market share in PC segment globally, slightly better than HP that has 17.2% share. As usual it sold more tablets and smartphones than PCs.

Lenovo plans to show a growth in mobile and enterprise through successful IBM x86 and Motorola Mobility integrations upon approvals. It would invest $50 million over next 2 quarters in IBM and plans to build a $5 billion business, with higher
margins than PC business in one year. Motorola expanded to India, Brazil and the UK over the past one year, once the Motorola acquisition closes it expects to sell 100 million smartphones and tablets in the coming year.
