Facebook has announced that it is updating the app for iPhone with new iOS 8 capabilities. For starters, the apps will get ability to share content from other apps to Facebook.
Users can simply tap the share icon and select Facebook to share a link, photos, videos and content from other apps. They can also specify the audience the content will be shared with, add locations, specify what they are doing or tag friends. Facebook is also enhancing the app with a new and cleaner design that takes advantage of the larger and better iPhone 6 displays.
“Facebook does not get location information from your device in the background (that is, while you’re not using the app) unless you give us permission by turning on a feature that requires this, like Nearby Friends. Also, if you choose to turn on a feature like this, you’ll always be able to use your Facebook settings to control whether Facebook gets your location information in the background.”
posted Adam Mosseri, Product Management Director , Facebook in a company blog post.
The social network cleared that is is not changing the privacy setting for the app. Latest updates and features will roll out to iPhone in coming weeks.
