HTC unveiled the Desire EYE, its first selfie-focused smartphone with a 13-megapixel front-facing camera at the Double Exposure event in New York City. We got to check out the smartphone at the event. Here is a quick hardware walkthrough of the smartphone.
It has a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display with Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection. It has dual front-facing stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers, similar to other HTC One smartphones. It is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snadpragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU.
The main highlight of the smartphone is the 13-megapixel front-facing camera with dual LED Flash, f/2.0 and 22mm wide-angle lens. HTC has introduced a camera feature called HTC EYE Experience that brings new features such as Face Tracking, Screen Share, Split Capture, Face Fusion, Live Makeup, Auto Selfie, Voice Selfie, Photo Booth, Crop Me In and more.
It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED Flash, f/2.0, 28mm lens and 080p HD recording. The smartphone has three microphones for enhanced background noise cancellation.
It has uni-body build and comes with IPX7 ratings for water resistance. It has matte polycarbonate back, under which there is a 2400 mAh battery. It has 4G LTE connectivity and has the usual set of connectivity features.
The smartphone has dual tone finish that has mixture of two colors. The color seen in the picture is Matt White. It also comes in Submarine Blue colors. It has SIM and microSD cards on the right side. It has 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB with microSD.
In addition to the power button and the volume rockers, the smartphone also has a dedicated camera button.
It has a single nano SIM slot, similar to the HTC One M8.
On the top there is a 3.5mm audio jack and the micro USB slot is present on the bottom.
The HTC Desire Eye would be available in EMEA, Asia and the US this October.
