Nokia cuts prices of phones after a good quarter

Nokia might have just started the price war again. After posting some impressive numbers in Q4 , Nokia has cut prices of its phones upto 10% according to reports.Reuters is indicating that the price cut was initiated in late Jan this year.  Nokia is taking on Samsung and Sony Ericsson in the smartphone game. The 5230 which is the cheapest smartphone in the market today might see another price drop.  The wholesale price of the phone has seen a significant drop from 170 eur to 120 euro.

Symbian on a Rs.7000-8000 phone can actually be a game changer.

Smartphone sales are continuing to rise despite the weak economy. While this move by Nokia is something which happens with any company or product from time to time, this might be trouble for other handset makers including RIM and Apple.

Nokia recently made Navigation free on all its devices. Seems like they have an aggressive strategy on the cards.

Its good news that Nokia phones will get a price cut. It also indicates that they might announce some new phones for 2010 .
