Apple launched the iPhone 6 Plus, the company’s first large screen smartphone in October. We have already seen the unboxing, photo gallery,benchmarks, battery test and review of the iPhone 6 Plus. Now let’s compare the iPhone 6 Plus with the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 that was launched last year.
The iPhone 6 Plus sports a 5.5 inch Retina HD display screen (1920 x 1080 pixels) and is powered by a new Apple A8 processor while the Mega 6.3 has a 6.3-inch HD ( 1280 x 720 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor.
The iPhone 6 Plus runs on iOS 8 while the Mega 6.3 was initially launched with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean was updated this year to Android 4.4 KitKat. Front camera on the iPhone 6 Plus is 1.2MP front facing FaceTime camera with 720p HD video recording while that on the Mega 6.3 is 1.9-mega pixel.
The iPhone 6 Plus has the trademark physical home button along with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Mega 6.3 on the other hand has the trademark physical home button and two capacitive buttons on the side.
The iPhone 6 Plus has an aluminium unibody design and have curved edges and the Apple logo is situated at the middle of the phone. Mega 6.3 has a removable back cover that is made of plastic.
The iPhone 6 Plus has a 8MP rear iSight camera that can shoot Slo-Mo videos at 120 fps or 240fps and supports OIS. On the other hand the Mega 6.3 has 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash.
The iPhone 6 Plus has a 2915mAh battery and the Mega 6.3 has 3200mAh battery. The former has a iPhone branding below while the latter has small loud-speaker grill.
On the left side the iPhone 6 Plus as the power button and micro SIM card button on the right side while the Mega 6.3 has only the power button on that side.
The iPhone 6 Plus has volume rockers while the rotation lock switch are placed on the left side and the Mega 6.3 has only volume rocker key.
At the top iPhone 6 Plus has no keys while the Mega 6.3 has 3.5mm audio jack and primary microphone.
The iPhone 6 Plus has 3.5mm audio jack and the Apple’s proprietary lightning connector along with the loudspeakers at the bottom. iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1m thick and weighs 172 gms while the Mega 6.3 measures 7.9mm thick and weighs 199 grams.
The iPhone 6 Plus is available in India and comes in Silver, Gold, Space Gray colors and in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variants for INR 62,500 for the basic 16GB variant, INR 71,500 and INR 80,500 respectively. The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is available in White Mist, Black Frost and purple color. It it was launched at Rs 30,900, but it now retailing for less than Rs. 24,000.
