Sony Xperia Z Ultra GPE receives Android 5.0 Lollipop update


Sony is rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition (GPE) devices. This makes the Xperia Z Ultra GPe one of the first Google Play edition devices to officially receive Lollipop.

The update with build number LRX21P.S3.4201 weighs in at 397.3MB and requires 500MB of free space on the Ultra before it can be installed. Sony Z Ultra GPe Android 5.0 Lollipop update introduces a bold new visual style, improves performance, new option of seeing notifications at lock screen, extend time between charges with battery saving mode, manage notifications with automatic interruption controls, smart lock feature, screencast option.

Sony is releasing the update in phases and hence can take time to reach the users. The company has already promised Android 5.0 Lollipop update for entire Xperia Z series starting from Jan 2015 . It also announced beta test for Lollipop on Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3. HTC announced yesterday that One M7 and M8 GPE devices will soon receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

[Update]- Sony has officially rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Sony Z Ultra GPe and it will roll out to everyone this week.
