Apple has released an iOS 8 update that bumps to version 8.1.3. The update includes “bug fixes, increased stability and performance improvements.”
One of the important feature of the update is that it reduces the amount of storage that is required to perform a software update. This will be a welcome move as users without less free space on their device had difficulty updating because of the size of the software download. The update also fixes a problem with the Apple ID password for Message and FaceTime, as some users had trouble entering their passwords.
iOS 8.0 update was a 1.1GB download which required over 5GB to install. This forced users to either delete apps, media or other data to make room, or connect their cables to perform a “tethered” iTunes sync. In comparison the latest update is only 247MB which will be a relief for users.
The update can be downloaded by going to Settings > General > Software Update. You can also download and install the update through iTunes by plugging in your iPhone to your Mac or PC. Apple launched iOS 8 in September when the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus was announced. There were a few bugs when iOS 8 launched so Apple quickly launched iOS 8.1.1 in November and iOS 8.1.2 in December for Touch ID and cellular network issue.
