Lenovo launched the A6000 smartphone in India back in January this year. It started selling the smartphone in flash sales exclusively on Flipkart every week from January end. Today the company launched the A7000, successor of the A6000 in India at a price tag of Rs. 8,999. Few hours back Lenovo A6000 page on Flipkart has been updated with the information that the product has permanently been discontinued.
At the A7000 launch today, Lenovo said that the A6000 is one of the successful 4G smartphones in India. It sold 3 lakh units of the smartphone in just two months. 1,80,000 units were sold in flash sales and 1,20,000 units were sold in normal sales on Flipkart. Lenovo started selling the smartphone without any registration couple of weeks back.
Even though the Lenovo A7000 is slightly costlier than the A6000, the specifications and features it offers are better compared to its predecessor. Registrations for the sale of A7000 on April 15th is now live on Flipkart.
[Update: Lenovo has confirmed that it has not discontinued the A6000 and the stocks will be replenished soon.]
