Sharp has introduced its new 5.5-inch Ultra HD 4K IGZO LCD panel with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels and a pixel density of 806ppi at the China Information Technology Expo 2015 in Shenzhen last week. The panel has a display area of 121 × 68 mm.This is bigger and sharper compared to 4.1” IGZO LCD display with 736 ppi that was introduced by the company last year.
Since the display is based on semiconductor material indium gallium zinc oxide, it promises better clarity compared to TFT. 4K IGZO panels offers sample pixel size of 10.5μm × 3, compared to a 4.7 inch 720p panels with 27μm × 3 sample pixel size.
Sharp introduced 302ppi IGZO panel in 2012, in 2014 it introduced 487ppi panel, now it has achieved 806ppi. The company said that it will share mass production of this IGZO panel UHD resolution in 2016.
