It appears that HTC has a plastic variant of the One M9+ in the pipeline. The device has been spotted listed in China’s TENAA certification database.
Listed as the HTC M9ew on TENAA, the device is speculated to be the plastic variant of HTC One M9+ which will pack a 5.2-inch 2K (Quad-HD) display, 2.2GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage with microSD card expansion (up to 128GB), and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Upfront, the device can be seen to feature a home button likely to be the fingerprint sensor, just like the One M9+, first spotted by Engadget China on Sunday.
But unlike the One M9+, HTC M9ew (the plastic M9+) will not feature a HTC duo-camera setup for the rear camera, and will instead pack a 20-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, just like the flagship One M9.
It’s not clear if the device is only meant for Chinese market or make it globally. But considering that the device has passed the certification, it is possible that HTC will soon make an official announcement about it.
