Xiaomi is about to bring a shift in the usage of processors for its high end smartphones. The Chinese smartphone maker is said to use MediaTek 10 core chip in its flagship smartphones.
MediaTek recently announced its 10-core Helio X20 series SoC will be available for sampling in the third quarter of 2015. The Helio X20 features 2 high power A72 cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and 4 mid-power A53 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. It also has 4 low-power cores clocked at 1.4 GHz. Xiaomi uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 SoC for its latest flagship series – Mi Note.
The chip maker has reportedly reiterated its ongoing cooperation with Xiaomi and the company is focusing more on its competitiveness in the mid-range and high-end market segments. Recent report comes in line with the rumors about the Xiaomi H3Y codenamed Hermes, which is Redmi Note 2 Pro, and is expected to use MediaTek MT6795 octa-core processor.
