Qualcomm and Daimler announce collaboration to bring connected car technology

Qualcomm has partnered with automaker Daimler to bring new connected car technology. The collaboration will be aimed at improving in car experiences by implementing 3G/4G connectivity, in-vehicle wireless charging and Qualcomm Halo WEVC (Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging) technology.

Daimler AG is an automotive MNC that is most famously known for its Mercedes Benz brand. They will collaborate together with Qualcomm to bring Wireless Power Transfer 2.0 to vehicles. Qualcomm Halo technology will allow companies to fit high performance and high power into a small package that will enable customers to charge their electric and Hybrid cars without having to plug them into a charging socket.

We aren’t sure how exactly that would work. perhaps the car will have a particular charging adapter or will have to be parked upon an inductive floor material but it does sound interesting and we are looking forward to seeing what they bring. Also Qualcomm’s WiPower technology will allow users to charge their devices wirelessly in their cars. As wireless charging is slowly gaining momentum, it would be a neat feature to have in your car as well and we hope that more automakers adopt the technology very soon.
