ARM has signed a long-term deal with Samsung that is aimed at providing next-level visual experiences to customers. The deal includes ARM’s GPUs namely Mali T820, 830, 860 and the recently announced T880 as well as all future Mali GPUs.

This deal will allow Samsung to create innovative products in various different price segments and performance levels across multiple markets. Samsung already uses ARM technology for their own SoCs but this deal will allow them to take the development to the next level.

ARM’s Mali GPUs are the most popular licensable GPU in the world having shipped over 550 Mali-enabled CPUs on devices in 2014. Samsung’s Senior VP of the Processor Development Team Mr Jae Cheol Son said

“The visual quality is a critical part of high-end mobile devices. The highly scalable and energy-efficient ARM Mali family gives us the flexibility we need to address a broad range of devices.”

This deal will also allow Samsung to develop optimized solutions for devices other than just smartphones. Home entertainment and other consumers will also be benefited from this deal.
