iOS 9 to bring 6 digit passcode for iOS devices

Apple showcased iOS 9 at the WWDC with an array of new features and improvements. One such feature announced at the event was the addition of 6 digit passcode that puts more focus on the improved security.

Previous versions of the Apple iOS required users to add a four digit passcode. With iOS 9 users will have to add a 6 digit passcode and it will apply to all devices enabled with TouchID, the company’s biometric fingerprint technology. As usual, passcodes remain optional, and users can create a more complex alphanumeric password, but six digits will be the minimum.  Apple says that instead of 10,000 possible combinations, newer iOS devices will soon have one million thereby making the passcode tough to crack.

The main aim of increasing the number of digits on passcode is to strengthen the security in order to protect your devices by making it harder for others to get unauthorized access to your Apple ID account. It must be noted that users can still unlock their iPhones and iPads with a successful fingerprint match without having to add the six digit passcode at all.
