Yahoo has given its mobile search engine a makeover that focuses more on offering richer content. The update aims at taking users “take action right away”.
“We know when you’re on the go, you’re often searching for a specific piece of information. So rather than delivering endless links for you to sift through on a small screen, we beautifully assemble the most relevant information in a way that allows you to take action right away,”
posted Andrew Poon, Vice President, Product Management on a company blog.
The mobile search surfaces most images, videos, news and additional details related to your search, and display them up front. The new mobile search results are live now but only in mobile browsers. Poon suggests users to put Yahoo as the default search onmobile browser by going into the settings and selecting Yahoo. Yahoo’s mobile app has not been updated to include this feature. The changes come as Yahoo works to incorporate its search service into more third-party applications. In December, it replaced Google as the default search engine for Firefox.
