Apple is betting hard on the demand that its next generation iPhones will have. They have asked suppliers to ramp up the production of the upcoming iPhones to 90 million units by the end of the year.

Despite having minimal changes in terms of design and specifications, Apple is expecting huge demand for the upcoming iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Sources say that Apple has asked suppliers to manufacture anywhere between 85 to 90 million handsets by December 31st.

In comparison, Apple had ordered between 70-80 million handsets last year with the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus which could be considered to be more innovative than the upcoming models in their own time. However the new iPhones will have force touch technology which Apple can brag as being something that no other manufacturer offers.

Despite entering the larger-screened smartphone market quite late, Apple sold 135.6 million handsets at the end of its fiscal year in September which was a 43% increase from the same period a year before. Apart from Force Touch, the new iPhones are also expected to come in an additional 4th colour although the colour isn’t known yet.
