Google has announced an add on insurance policy for the new Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones. The additional insurance coverage is optional and will be valid for a period of two years.
Nexus Protect will include coverage for accidental breakdowns as well. The pricing of Nexus Protect for the LG Nexus 5X is US$ 69 (approx Rs 4500) and US$ 89 (Approx Rs5800) for the Huawei Nexus 6P. Google hasn’t yet specified if there is a deductible in case you completely wreck your smartphone.
Google claims that customers could expect a replacement for their damaged smartphone as early as the next business day. The Nexus Protect insurance plan is sort of Google’s version of Apple Care however the coverage is limited to United States for the time being but is expected to expand to more countries in the near future although we aren’t sure if India will be in the next wave of countries that will be added to the support list.
