WhatsApp has added tons of new emojis for its Android app, before Android gets these emojis next week starting from Nexus devices, as announced by Google’s new SVP of Android, Chrome OS and Chromecast, Hiroshi Lockheimer. He said that Google has also shared the fonts and tech details with other OEMs so they can update as well. This was first spotted by Android Police.
Some of these new emojis include, volleyball, taco, middle finger, champagne bottle, as well as new faces for sickness, thinking, and rolling eyes. You can press the emoji icon on the left corner of the input area to access the emoji.
Apple released iOS 9.1 update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch back in October adding over 184 new emoji characters with full support for Unicode 7.0 and 8.0 emojis. iOS became the first operating system to include every single emoji in the Unicode Standard.
These new WhatsApp emojis are available in the latest update through the official website, and is not available through Google Play yet.
