Tesla, the popular US electric car maker has unveiled its upcoming Tesla Model 3 electric sedan. CEO and Co-Founder of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk has announced that the Model 3 electric car is coming to India.
Musk revealed via a tweet that along with India, the Model 3 is expanding to other countries including Brazil, South Africa, South Korea, Singapore, New Zealand, and Ireland. The Model 3 pre-order page lets you book a Tesla by paying a $1,000 (Rs. 66,400 approx.) via a credit card and this is a refundable deposit in case you decide not to buy. The vehicle will go into production in late 2017 and is expected to cost around $35,000 ( Rs. 23,24,450 approx.) before tax breaks.
Musk said the car will have at least 215 miles of range, 0-60 in under six seconds, and every single one will have Supercharging as a standard feature. Tesla said that it has already taken orders for more than 1,15,000 Model 3. Model 3 is the most affordable car in the Tesla line-up and is a smaller hybrid of the Model S and X. Currently, Tesla sells two vehicles – Model S sedan, which starts at $71,000 and the Model X SUV, which starts around $80,000.
