Facebook may join WhatsApp and enter the encryption game soon. A new report from The Guardian claims that the social network could add end-to-end encryption to its Messenger app later this year,
The encryption feature which would allow only the sender and recipient to read the texts, is expected to be optional and will not be active by default. As per the report, the encryption mode will might act as an obstacle for some of the machine learning features Facebook is building into Messenger. Facebook Messenger currently has more than 900 million users and comes equipped with a number of features. The social network unveiled bots for the Messenger platform at its developer conference in April. These bots offer a wide range of features including hotel bookings, weather update, latest news and so on.
