Facebook has started rolling out a new ‘Instant Video’ feature to Messenger that essentially combines chatting with real time video sharing.
So how it works?
If you and your friend have the latest version of Messenger for either iOS or Android installed then the Messenger allows you to share real-time video while chatting with just a tap on the video icon. Usually when you tap on that icon it initiates full screen video call and you cannot type in chat alongside. But now it starts a video call floating in a pop-up window above the Messenger chat and the audio is off by default but you can enable it as well.
Sometimes you want to ask a friend’s opinion on a pair of shoes you want to buy, weigh in on what ice cream flavor they should bring home, or just want to see your BFF’s reaction to your witty message when you’re in a place where you can’t actually talk live.
Meanwhile, the other person can either join in the ‘Instant Video’ stream or can decide to just watch it.
