Google finally launched carrier billing for Google Play Store in India, starting with Idea Cellular back in May last year, now it has started rolling out support for payments through netbanking. This lets you pay for apps, games, and books on Google Play directly from your bank account, instead of using credit or debit card.
This will be more useful for people who don’t have a credit card. To use netbanking billing, when you make a purchase, you just need to choose the bank you have added on the prompt in the store. This will redirect you to the secure page for the bank where you can add your login details and pay for the purchase.
Most of the popular banks, including State Bank, Indian Bank, Axis Bank, CitiBank are listed, but some banks like Standard Charted are missed out. Hope we can expect Google to officially roll out this feature more widely in coming days.
