OnePlus founder and CEO, Pete Lau already confirmed that the OnePlus 3 and 3T will get Android O update. OnePlus recently posted an interview with its Head of Product, Oliver on its to clear doubts about software updates for the phones.
He confirmed that Android O will be the last Android version update the phones will get but it will continue to security updates . “After the OP3/3T have been updated to Android O, we’ll start moving the Open Beta Program from OP3/3T to OP5,” he said.
The phones were released running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and got Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) update earlier this year. These recently got beta updates that added parallel apps feature that lets you run a parallel version of the same app using a separate account along with fixes and optimizations. OnePlus said that August security update and OxygenOS 4.5 update will be released soon, but it did not confirm any time frame for the update.
