Samsung announced the Galaxy Note8 yesterday. It also unveiled a new Gear VR headset for the Galaxy Note8 that sports a huge 6.3 inch display. The new Gear VR is almost similar to the old VR in terms of the design, weight and colors but has a bigger slot for the Galaxy Note8.
The new Gear VR has a new controller and comes with sensors like Accelerometer, Gyro Sensor, and Proximity Sensor. The Galaxy Note8 comes with a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ (2960×1440 pixels) Super Amoled ‘Infinity’ display with 521ppi. The new Gear VR is backward compatible with previous flagships such as Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 series. Other specifications of the new Gear VR are not known yet.
It must be noted that since the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ were compatible with Google Daydream project, the Note 8 may also come with the same support. The new Gear VR headset is priced at $129.99 and is already available on the US online store to buy.
