Samsung today launched the flagship Galaxy Note8 smartphone in India. We have got out hands on the phone so let’s take a detailed look at the design and specifications of the phone.
The Galaxy Note8 sports a gorgeous 6.3-inch Quad HD+ (2960 × 1440 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity display with 522ppi, 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an Octa-Core Samsung Exynos 9 Series 8895 processor in India. Running Android Android 7.1.1 (Nougat), it comes with 6GB RAM, 64GB storage that is expandable memory up to 256GB with microSD.
It has an iris scanner, earpiece, 8MP front camera and the usual set of sensors at the front.
The phone has an end-to-end, bezel-less screen that extends to the phone’s sides, similar to the S8 series. There are three on-screen touch buttons.
The power button is situated on the right side.
Left side houses volume rockers and Bixby voice assistant button. The phone measures 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6mm and weighs 195g.
On top you have the hybrid SIM/microSD card slot, microphone and antenna band cutouts.
There is a 3.5mm audio headphone jack, USB Type C, microphone, loudspeaker grills and S-Pen slot. The improved S Pen stylus now has a finer tip, improved pressure sensitivity and also now lets you share animated texts or drawings across platforms that support animated GIFs.
Note8 is the first flagship from Samsung that sports dual rear cameras There is a 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, wide-angle lens, OIS, secondary 12MP camera with telephoto lens, f2.4 aperture, OIS, 2x optical zoom, up to 10x digital zoom.
A fingerprint sensor and heart rate sensor is also present at next to the LED flash.
The back is a fingerprint magnet and is prone to smudges. Similar to the predecessor, the Note8 is also water resistant up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes with IP68 ratings.
Connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth v 5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), GPS with GLONASS, USB Type-C 3.1, NFC and MST. It has support for Samsung Pay. It packs a 3300mAh battery and supports fast charging both on wired and wireless (WPC and PMA).
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 comes in Midnight Black and Maple Gold colors in India, is priced at Rs. 67,900 and is available for pre-order from Amazon.in, Samsung Shop online as well as select stores offline starting today and goes on sale from September 21st.
